Curious to know what you are referring to when you say "this emeritus thing"?

Emirates F hasn't been bookable past March 28th I think it is for some time now using the above purchased miles.

I've never bought on those promos but again will look into it.

i understand that AS allows one-way stopovers so would QF Mel-DXB (stopover here) - LAX/SFO be possible as part of their qantas australia-north america award?
And if so will I have to call AS to book that? not sure how to work the stopover into the online booking system
thanks guys

You can't book this because Qantas don't fly from Dubai to the US. You can't mix Qantas and Emirates flights with Alaskan.

I've enlisted in the JAL programme to see CX availability. (Adl - HKG to LAX). I've also tried them as separate sectors. I've used maybe six random dates. No availability. Using the Qantas website the first search yielded results. Has JAL changed?

Many have found JL to show less availability than others, once shown its a better chance AS will have them. I usually look up both JL and BA then call both times all was correct.

Yes, but there is nothing shown on JAL for all the days I checked and multiple flights. Just random days. Not school holidays etc etc. Weekends, weekdays. Qantas - multiple choices and bookable.

How do you know they're bookable? With phantom availability on Qantas you go through to the booking pages and get an error.

BA/QF tools over-report CX availability. The JL tool under-reports.

The JL tool is better now, but still a bit clunky to use, so I check first on BA/QF, then confirm the availability on JL. If both match, there should be no problem booking it. If QF/BA show it, but JL doesn't, it's most likely the seat is phantom. I did a booking on the QF site, right through to credit card, but it returned an error at the processing stage. QF call centre confirmed phantom availability.

There have been times when QF/BA/JL show nothing, but USDM sees seats (2 F on my last trip). Sweet.

There are problems with AS staff ebing able to find availability for CX. They need to go to the partner desk and open new screens or something...

Don't be too surprised if CX availability seems to be scarce. I'm not sure which days you are trying or if those days are consecutive or not; unless the availability has really gone downhill badly then there will still be a smattering of days with a seat or two.

MEL and SYD typically have availability, albeit the only high probability flight is usually the first one of the day, which is not possible for same day connections if you need to fly into the gateway.

As Limewood also said, JL can underreport the real CX availability, but tools like QF and BA can also overreport it. It is quite possible that if you see it on QF and not on JL:
  • The space is bookable only with QF currency and not AS/US/AA (similar conclusion if you also find BA reporting availability)
  • The space is a "true phantom" - if you try to use QF to book that space, QF may return an error (again, similar on BA as has been tried by some of the experts previously)

EK F now available again (saw omaat link on FB and confirmed it with dummy searches).

think i might pull the trigger for an A380 shower. pure randomness factor is pretty cool. other current option is SQ suites, which is great but have flown a few times vs never having tried EK F.

bonus points offer looks to expire 3/4 US time, so sometime saturday AUS time.

But only available Asia-USA?

b) Everything we knows is simply not comprehensive enough
