Alan Joyce writing a memoir

Security staff are airport supplied aren't they?
Yes, but it’s all part of the ecosystem.

Airports claimed ‘no staff’ because everyone had gone and found jobs elsewhere during covid.

If the airports had offered a $10000 sign-on bonus for returning staff provided they stayed for 6 months or whatever, I’m sure they would have got the staff.

And passengers pay for security, so the massive increase in pax numbers would have paid for sign-on bonuses.

Understand that, but the comment was in reference to AJ being blamed for slow immigration. He might be responsible for a lot of things that shouldn't have happened. but that wasn't one of them.

I hadn’t heard that before! Agree if anyone was blaming him for immigration that would be out of order.

It was technically airport security but still not his or the airlines direct responsibility.

Saying PAX weren’t “Match fit” was one of things he says sorry for in the memoir.

Re Joyce

We can feel sorry for him walking away with $125 million
The average worker earns $2-$3 million in 40 years of working

Riding the jet stream or was that riding the jetstar, it might explain the tight legroom.Whatever, I am sure it will be short listed.
JQ was / is hugely successful. Hence why he was tapped to be QF CEO.

Yes, it obviously was a way to overcome some legacy workplace arrangements but it also was an incredible strategic move to box in DJ/VA (who were unencumbered by the same legacy workplace arrangements).

Where things went a bit coughty for customers was the over Jetstarisation of the network. Including new aircraft at the expense of QFi/QFd.
