Airport bag handling video

Unfortunately for customers this is a very regular sighting in my line of work and I’m not sure any company is any better or worse at it

Previous video before your post was Menzies, OP was Swissport...

... with a commonality that in both cases they both are outsourced from Qantas.

Wonder what penalty Qantas put in the contract in respect of demonstrated mi-handling of passengers' bags? Any idea?

Nothing surprising in that video, by now does anyone seriously expect anything better? At least the level of contempt shown to customers and to their luggage is consistent. Not match-fit.

Set up or not......pay peanuts, get monkeys. QF paid for Swissport instead of thier own staff. Will be interesting if this goes viral and gets a response from the airline

Yeah the QF corporate spin will surely fix the issue...................

Not surprised at all really. Assuming this is a real video and not set up, the handlers are pushed to get the luggage unloaded and out quickly. And passengers complain when bags don't appear almost as soon as they're get to the carousel. Of course if it was my piece of luggage being slammed down by one particular handler I would not be pleased but the generally throwing of bags onto the belt is normal I would think.
The thing is there's moving fast and tossing bags onto the belt to get things moving quickly and then there is going out of your way to lift bags above your head and then slam them down onto the belt, or throwing them with so much force they fall off over the other side and require you to go over and collect them anyway. The latter two scenarios I would say uses more energy and is completely unnecessary and just spiteful. Glad these clowns have been stood down.

Oh I do agree but I also think that people who think that their bags will be placed on the belt and not thrown about are not aware of what really happens. There was one handler who seemed to be the main 'culprit' as they say.

Do you think it's part of the more significant anti-contractor/outsourcing disagreement between the airline and labour unions?

Pending investigation.

The question is, what’s being investigated? - the actions of the baggage handlers or are they investigating who took and leaked the video?

You can be sure there is CCTV covering that area. I'd like to know why action was only taken after this video went public. You can bet your bottom dollar others knew this was going on.

You think this issue is new? and that someone watches the CCTV 24/7 ?

So why ask the question about why action was only taken since a viral video leaked ?

You have answered your own question

You asked me if I thought CCTV is watched 24/7. I answered. Being watched 24/7 or not is irrelevant to action being taken. Also, just because an issue isn't new is also irrelevant to action being taken.

My point was, action is only being taken because this has gone public.
