Hello Fellow Members,

I would like to seek an information from you, could you please let me know, if air miles depend on which airport you depart from?

I mean, I find some times the airfares depend on which airport you depart from. For example: LHR or LGW.

I was wondering, if airmiles depend on the deârting airport as well ?

I thank you for your help
Vik

Generally no.

It is based on mileage between ports and class flown.

Seat prices are based on "bistro maths"- h/t Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Most programmes the points earn is related to distance and fare class
Some programmes (such as Virgin Australia domestic) the points earned are directly related to cost of ticket

Many programmes (such as BA QF) give status credits based on distance bands
Qantas has reduced status credit earn on partner airlines on competing routes (such as Cathay on MEL-HKG or BA SYD-LHR)

I'm not aware of any programme that would otherwise distinguish between airports as you suggest

Airports, unlikely, other than a fractional distance difference. However it depends on the airline and their programme rules. As mentioned before, some programmes base points on airfare value and I gather you're flying out of LGW for a cheaper fare, so check the particular airlines rules.

Hello bsb,
Many thanks for your suggestions and help.

Further to your suggestions, I am looking at all the information.

Thanks again
