Airline livery update - who needs one?

Was looking through some photos and whilst I’ve always thought the SQ livery looked understated and classy, today it struck me as being a bit… stale.

Which airline liveries do you think are most in need of a refresh?

Personally I’d suggest:
1. ZL
2. SQ
3. CA

Then there’s the whole question of LH who took an iconic livery and it refreshed it to be… insipid.

Whoever was responsible for dropping the yellow from LH should be sent to jail imho. On the flip side, while many like to ridicule Qantas for making ever so tiny changes to their livery and font from decade to decade, I would in hindsight argue that it actually has kept the livery fresh and contemporary.

Who else needs an update? KLM comes to mind though please don‘t drop this colour. Quite a few of the Chinese carriers look stale and old- a bit of an update wouldn’t harm most of them.

Refreshes can also be clangers - some examples above. But who remembers the disastrous BA change when they replaced the coat of arms on the tails with all sorts of different tail designs / colours. They were supposed represent countries or destinations but were just confusing…diluted the BA brand image and didn’t last long.

VA
SQ (IMO, a modern twist on the cheat line similar to UA (old CO cheat line) or a minor change like KL)

You preferred the DJ livery? My eyes still hurt thinking about it…

TBH, “Virgin” branding operates within pretty tight boundaries. The current is ok v DJ and the old VAustralia.

Definitely not a fan of the old DJ livery, but something similar to VS with the large billboard titles to distinguish from the QF red tail.

I do love flying into FRA as you often get to spot all the different Condor livery’s and I find them visually stunning
Oh those are awesome! And the genius idea of putting beach towels on a German holiday airliner is just hilarious as… Should have designed the tails as socks in sandals for full Germanic perfection! :D

OT, but there’s the challenge for VA. QF already has the Red Tail!

Agree with Rex.

Maybe Korean Air. (Yes, I know they just got a new one...)

Zip Air too?
Korean is in the same group with LH: they took an iconic livery and kept it partly intact, just more bland.

The gold in the old LH colours really worked. For Korean, going with the stylised very blue imagery, they’ve taken away the actual Korean-ness.

Zipair - well they had to after the dictator invaded Ukraine.

ZL I’ve just given up trying to understand after the marketing failure that was RexJet.

Please no! Keep SQ as it is, one of the few airlines with a proper cheatline. Let everyone else dilute their brand with hockey sticks, Eurowhite, jellybeans, billboards and all over colour, but to me SQ retains a look from the golden age of travel.
