Airfares to US to drop?

Briefly saw our neighbour, who was racing back to her travel agent.
They have booked a Canada/ Alaska trip in June. They applied for their Esta. Her husband has been approved and she has been refused. And they won’t tell her why. They always travel together on holidays.
Travel agent is trying to sort it out.
She is stressed to the max!
Some sort of profiling due to name?

IMO airfare between here and the US won't come down and the reason is more to do with Americans visiting us than Australians visiting the states. People from the states tend to have (sometimes farcically) higher purchasing power than we do and with the recent AUD drop it's not like Aus isn't a lovely value proposition for an American.

Side note: I've anecdotally noticed an uptrend in Americans relocating from the states to Australia at work (big MNC). There's quite a few now. Been happening over the last 2-3 years.

In the U.S. legally on a student visa, they are trying to deport her because she committed the misdemeanour-level offence of failing to pull over for flashing yellow lights - four years ago!

I wonder if you can get SC's if you get deported on a Qantas flight?...

Hopefully they drop far enough that it makes SYD-LAX a good value status run! :) Could be a shopping trip status run too - land at LAX around 7am, shop all day then fly out again that evening. AUD-USD exchange rate will play a part in whether a one day shopping trip would be worthwhile - and how much the tariffs impact the prices over there.

Also might need to factor in what will be on the shelves. Media reports of 60% drop in containers arriving in CA ports last month. Importers scared to place orders due the daily change of mind on tariffs.
