Business class is a steal but ~$1,000 for infant is highway robbery. I don't want to spend that money. I need to figure something out. Shame can't get SQ seats with MileagePlus so I can book one award on MileagPlus and other on KrisFlyer.I think that's one award where ~AUD200 to fly business class is a steal.
The JQ 787 felt roomy in the mini cabin at front and RJ 787 felt ok in first few rows. I don't like the feel of the Qantas A330 cabin.3x3x3 in a 787 is >> 2x4x2 in 330??
Give me the 330 (even EBG/EBL with the coughpy IFE any day) in Y
JohnK I actually think you need to experience Air AsiaX (D7) - 3x3x3 on a 330 and a tight pitch.
In economy I'd rate 747 -> A380 -> 787 -> 777 -> A350 -> A330. I'm seriously thinking about taking a break from Qantas and booking TG 747s in economy next year using MileagePlus miles earned and about to be devalued.

For me the A330 is inferior. Actually hate it with a passion and everytime I think of booking SYD-BKK return I start to think of ways to avoid it such as going via HKG. Now with wife and daughter is a different story.

I'm sure the JL 787's are more spacious but I didn't have issues on the RJ or JQ 787s. Especially the JQ 787 bulkhead seat.Just remember that cabin configurations can vary wildly and those are airline choices. Consider the JQ 335 seat 787's vs a very spacious JL 787. A cabin fitout and amenity (eg: video screens/power/pitch/seat comfort) can influence a lot.
I tend to not say I prefer a specific type of airframe from a paxex point of view, and would note specifics.. eg: I like the NZ 77W Y cabin, but would never set foot in the same 77W Y cabin on UA... or I'd take the QF J Suite 332 vs the unreconfigured QF 332 config still plying - which may seem obvious to many here, but they are still A330-200's.. hence my point. I know you see it differently of course.. and that's fine![]()
Logic is sound but need to factor the route, season and status as well into the equation. I was successful in upgrade requests on the SYD-HKG flights on the 747.John K - my "choice" (if I get one is 747 or A380). Given there are many less economy seats on a 747 but only slightly fewer Y+ and J seats, my upgrade chances might be higher on a 747 rather than on the A380...
Is my logic sound?
