Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

I fear foul play is responsible.

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

Simply more conjecture. The airline ruling out the aircraft and pilots and blaming something external doesn't mean much. We'll know for sure soon enough.

Strongly agree. I have less than zero confidence in the main parties involved. Thank god airbus will be assisting, and the plane was found.

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

Sad to see this happening whatever the cause.

sadly...in past 'events'...some parties will still refuse to 'accept' the facts/evidence...and nothing will change...and the world will still keep turning

The airline ruling out the aircraft and pilots and blaming something external doesn't mean much.
If anything, that makes me unlikely to believe anything else they say. To already rule out the aircraft dysfunction or pilot error seems ridiculous.

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

US and UK saying it was probably a bomb.

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous though. The airline, and many airlines in the same situation, would of course immediately say "it's not their fault" purely not to admit guilt and to calm the fears of current ticket holders and future passengers that cause wasn't the planes or pilot - regardless of the truth or fact - and we don't even know the exact reasons of this accident right now anyway.

It's like when you are driving car and have an accident, one of the things they tell you is to "never admit it was your fault".

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

A "source" and a "feeling"....using words from the CNN story. Remember TWA, and the difficulty the NTSB had with getting control and convincing the FBI that it was not a bomb.

All of the evidence is lying on the ground. The real story will come out soon enough. In the meantime, it would be sensible to look at security, but only as one of a number of possible causes.

What they should have said was that their sympathies are with the families and that they'll cooperate fully with the authorities. Applying blame, or relinquishing blame, this early on is quite premature.

That's not a good thing, though. Any decent principled person would admit that it was their fault, if it was.

And there is nothing to suggest they are not supporting the victim's families. They could say, we are extremely sorry for your loss and will support you anyway we can - however, so far, our planes and pilots were not the cause.

That's not a good thing, though. Any decent principled person would admit that it was their fault, if it was.

Being a decent person can mean you voiding your insurance coverage, especially if you admit that you are at fault but then the investigations/insurers indicate that you were not at fault at all or partially at fault.

Anyway, after an accident, RACV's response is "Do not admit liability for the motor vehicle accident, or blame yourself publicly ..."

what to do after an accident - RACV

and

NRMA's response is "Firstly, don't admit that you are at fault. Even though you believe your actions caused the accident..."

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

Yes I heard. Doesn't explain the pilots words.

Didn't the US and UK say there were WMD's in Iraq?

Blaming a certain organisation would be a perfect fit for the US ... I'm sure they don't like Putin bombing their freshly delivered armaments in Syria.

This is true but there are in fact quite a few people in all parts of the world not really that happy with Putin and Russia. If this was in fact a bomb that certain organisation would be far from the only potential suspect.

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

Airport security in these parts of the world are useless. Seen security with earphones in not even watching the x-ray monitor when checking bags.

A bomb wouldn't surprise me considering the circumstances

Re: An Airbus A321 missing in Egypt (~200 on board)

Seems a bit risky, targetting the russians - you'd think it'd just risk hardening their resolve...

Didn't bother the Afghanis.

Didn't bother the Afghanis.

Yes but they had multi-millions of $s in weapons and SA missiles covertly supplied by the US. Reap as ye sow.
