This might seem to be a silly question, but is it possible to tell the difference between an A330-200 and an A330-300 form the outside psychical appearance of each aircraft type?
I think the A333 is about 5 metres longer than the A332 (same wingspan), but the 5 metre difference is hard to detect from a distance.

Cheating. I use the flight radar app and you can use the binocular icon then point phone at plane and it will tell you aircraft type, where it's been, where it's going:)

The A333 has a larger distance between the forward and second set of doors than the A332. :)

If we are talking QF, yes by the regos.

The 332's are -EBx, the 333's are -QPx

Thanks for all your replies. They still suggest (except for NZflygirl) that you need to be reasonably close to the aircraft to notice the differences?

As you would expect considering they are two variants of the same aircraft.
However apart from the tail being 0.56 meters or almost 2 feet lower on the A333, the extra 5 metres length is all between the first and second doors, so that is a fairly obvious difference.
It also shows as a much longer front of the aircraft - by which I mean the length of fuselage in front of the wings.
Which, on the inside, means more window seats with unobstructed views!

A332 may have a smaller 3rd door on some airlines and a bigger vertical stabiliser with a larger logo compared with the A333

The smaller third door is not restricted to the A332, also appears on the 333. Either model can have a small or large door, just depends on airline preferences in terms of pax density.
