AirAsia Sale(s)

I don't think they're getting anywhere near the same response out from the Gold Coast as they are out of Melbourne.

Sometimes I think this is the same problem Jetstar are having to Japan - chasing marginal Queensland markets (Cairns or the Gold Coast) rather than direct out of Sydney or Melbourne.

AirAsiaX CEO said somewhere that their OOL flights were profitable, and have enabled them to expand in this market, catering for demand. So not catering for extra aircraft capacity that is just sitting there which provided extra MEL capacity.

From experience and from friends at OOL, apparently Coolie has been an enormous success for AirAsia.

PER-KUL-PER always seem to be about 75%, and on "sale" every month.
.
I use them heaps, and happily pay for hotseats rather than PE. I've lost a few tickets as they're not real easy to change, but it's chumpmoney anyhow.

Welcome to AirAsia.com...now everyone can fly...

Booking Period : 5 Oct 2009 - 11 Oct 2009
Travel Period : 11 Jan 2010 - 30 Apr 2010
Travel Notes : - Advance booking required

KUL-OOL RM 199
OOL-KUL AUD 119.00

Thanks for the heads up.

Just booked OOL-KUL-AUH for AUD185. I've done this routing cheaper in the past when KUL-AUH had its inaugural specials, but I think it's still good value. Then connecting to DUB on a business class Star award for 55,000 miles (round trip).

Yes I have tried too and the departure dates are only till end of Nov this year .. So why do you think they advertise the sale for fares beyond this but you cannot book.. seems rather a waste and very mis-leading. ?

Is this legal... is advertising suppose to have correct info...?

Due to overwhelming response from our Big Sale promotion, you’ll notice that our site is a little slower than usual.

We assure you that we are doing all we can to speed things up and thank you in advance for your patience.

Please try mobile.airasia.com as an alternative for booking.

Tried again, and using the Book links, dates through to February 2011 have now been loaded.

Booked me and the wife,3 exit row 15 seats,in dec MEL-KUL $800 all up.Extra seat between us and legroom may make it bearable? Any previous travellers in these seats? Then again they are changing the config ,anyone see this Finally, New Seats for AirAsia X - including the World’s First lie-flat bed seats on a Low Cost Carrier!

How did you do that when their internet system is down and the sale has finished?

BTW, I'm never booking with Air Asia X again.

Ask me why...

Nope, we're all well aware of your AAX hatred. Don't need to hear it again.

The sale is still on now. I managed to book several flights, never once had a problem with the site. Sure it ran a little slow, but I'm in ISA currently so it's always slow!

So I got 2x OOL-KUL-MEL (I hate arriving back at OOL, and it's actually easier for me to go MEL-BNE at the end of it all) for $500, including meals, 15/20kg baggage (there/back), and my pick of seats, including a couple of the hot seats. I'm trying out row 7 for the first time. Normally I love my 35K, but figured I should step out of my comfort zone :p

Say what you want about D7/AK, but >20 flights so far and not a single hitch despite rediculously low fares ... I'll keep the $$$ in my pocket, and the nasi lemak in my belly :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Agree :)

I've done around 14 flights (I think ?) all in seat 15A without any problems.

When this sale first went live they had their K.L to India routes in thier new reconfigured PE with lie flat seats for $0 fare + approx $40 tax !

Just FYI for anyone who isnt aware - if you book and don't fly, you're entitled to a refund of the airport tax paid (less an admin fee).

When they have seat sales - I use them like an option/rights issue.

I book the seat without any extras. If I decide to take the flight I pay for the extras before flying and if I choose not to take the flight I get the airport tax refunded - and I've only burned minimal $$'s to have the option available.

This worked a treat with their free seat sale (pay only taxes), but they seem to have caught on - most of their sales now include an seat cost lol

Flight back to the fgold coast the other week - seemed to have the new configuration seats they've been promising for a while. Much improved from previous trips on the old non-reclining style seats. Still cramped (3 abreast) but it's not an overly long flight.

Cheapest 'fully flexible' tickets around.

But the sales with virtually $0 non-tax components were for flights departing 9+ months in advance. I think they've been selling these seats to raise capital to fund their expansion in the past.

Sorry.

Pity you didn't get burned by the cancellation of the AUH flights, or you might have a different opinion.
