Not sure I like the total electronic check-in and lounge access with Air NZ. They are to be congratulated on the futuristic advancements but for the loyal and weary traveller there is an air of impersonality. I had no help at Auckland Airport Domestic when trying to check in. Ended up asking for a manual check in. Even then I had to place my own luggage on the conveyor belt. Swiping the boarding pass to enter the Koru Club Lounge is also an inconvenience. Obviously all this is designed to get rid of staff eventually I suppose.

I too was surprised when checking in for a local flight a month or two ago.

The thing that concerned me most was making sure that the bag tag was secured correctly and could be read.

If the bag ended up in the wrong spot or lost, would AirNZ just shrug and say it was my problem for not attaching the tag correctly?

So they have electricity in NZ now :?:

They even have these things called credit cards where you can actually enter an electronic personal identification number to identify yourself rather than having a random scribble on a back of a bit of plastic.

(Something being rolled out very slowly in AU)

How a couple of misguided members can take a topic off-topic  (looking particularly at one established member).

Please get back on topic as the first two posts was the start of a decent discussion.
