Hi Guys

Travelling with Air NZ for the first time in a long time long haul to SFO - wondering what peoples experiences have been like with the One Up upgrade process as well as the random upgrade from PE to J for Velocity WP members?

Thanks all

Not sure when you're leaving Steve, however I just put in a OneUp upgrade bid for MEL-AKL early September as a VA Gold.. Will let you know how I go ( if its before your flight)

I put in for upgrade SFO- SYD last year - for Y to Y+. Came through for about $360 from memory. Not bad for a fare SYD - LGA that only cost me $1300 return to start with.

My big watch out is ensuring you're on the upgraded metal. One flight out has the space seat and the other is old style.

I had the latter and it was fine - especially as I had bulkhead.

ETA this was as a Gold VFF but I think I had Silver *A attached to booking when I put in the bid.

Good point you make Milboo, I called Air NZ to ask about cabin fit outs on my flight ( 777-300) as the plus grade page show the old J seats ( pretty not flash ones) so ignore the images..

I've put in three OneUp bids.

#1 - AKL-LAX - PE-J - $500: Accepted
#2 - LAX-AKL - PE-J - $500: Declined
#3 - AKL-SYD - Y-J - Accepted (about $200 from memory)

OK so I did one required - SFO - AKL from PE to J @ $685... It has not been accepted, nor has it been rejected, I am on an airport standby list and I will know 7-9 hours from departure if i have been successful...

So I did get the upgrade to Business - it was a older 772 which had not been refurb'ed which made the J seat somewhat uncomfortable.... but still worth the cash

Ewing, what day was your flight LAX-AKL? I'm looking at making a bid as well on my way back from my trip, will be flying on a Wednesday, hoping that (for whatever reason) premium econ will not be as full.

If you let us know exactly which day you are flying, someone will probably be able to check the actual loading on your flight. :)

Oh crazy, that is great. I'm not flying back until September 23 (I'm not on my trip yet). What is good time for me to pop back in and ask?

There are two Air NZ flights from LAX to AKL that day. Both still have a fair bit of space in premium economy, with NZ5 appearing to have a couple more empty seats than NZ1 at this stage. Not that you can read too much into that just yet.

My suggestion would be to check again a few weeks before the flight, by posting a question here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ility-loadings-upgrade-probability-25311.html

Then, place your upgrade bid once you have an idea of how full the cabin will be. (Fairly full cabin = higher bid necessary.)

Not sure why my reply disappeared. Thanks Matt, will do that a few weeks out as you suggested. Thanks again for your help!

NB: worked out why I couldn't post, there was a link and I've only got 2 posts so far.

OneUp Request Accepted for MEL-AKL flight on 3rd September.

Hi, travelling AKL HNL in June and looking to one up from Y to W. Has anyone had any luck on a Oneup on this route?
cheers
