My wife and I are flying Cairns to Vancouver and return and do not have star alliance
program. Is it best to join Air Nz or some other program?
Thanks Chris

It really does depend on what type of fare you are travelling there on. The cheapest fares on Air NZ (Global Saver Max) only earn points in the Air NZ Airpoints program, and not on any other FF programs. If it is a more expensive fare then often you can earn on any star alliance program, and most of these better earn:burn ratios than Air NZ AIrpoints when travelling on economy tickets, and there a few threads around on AFF discussing which of these is the best.

If you don't fly Air NZ regularly though it might not be a great idea to join their program. It requires at least one flight a year on Air NZ to avoid an 'annual fee' of points that they charge.
