Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia have called on the Australia competition regulator to reauthorise their trans-Tasman alliance for five years rather than three to help compete against the new Qantas-Emirates alliance.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a final determination granting conditional authorisation until 31 October 2018 for Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand Limited to continue their trans-Tasman alliance.
