Air New Zealand Sky Couch Discussion

Have flown it 3 or 4 times AKL-LAX or vv. I think its better than PE... simply due to being able to lie down, even if not stretched out (I AM only 5' 7" so that helps) I find that I can lie down quite comfortably, admittedly with legs bent... but given it is WIDER than the Biz class seat that is quite easy. I sleep well in it..WITH good ear plugs, It must be remembered that the REST of the experience is pure Y... ;) I AM of course talking of Skycouch for ONE! The idea that two adults could both lie down is pretty ridiculous... at least on a Long haul flight... Given that it usually costs about the same as PE it has become my choice (when upgrades or Business class specials are unavailable)

Thank you.

Never tried it ... but are you 4' tall?
Thank you.

Here's a couple of trip reports with reviews:

Overall, I think people see Skycouch favourably, as there is a tangible possibility to lay flat, but unless you are very short, you're likely to sleep lying somewhat up, or in a cruched up position (not straight body).

lol… so pretty much the same as a Singapore airlines business class seat!!

I’m 6’3. I can lie down on a triple seat unit on a 787. The extra seat pan width and knees slightly bent is a pretty small issue when you can lie down to sleep. 100x better than PEY.

The only folk that would really struggle is if you could only sleep on your back, or front.

Edited to fix spelling.
