I hope they pick MEL. Jetstar price beats might come in handy.

Edit: Actually, Jetstar will probably deny a price beat because they'll say DMK and BKK are different airports.

Correct, from Jetstar website:

What does not qualify
Fares that use different airports to serve the same city. For example, if the other airline’s fare is to Tokyo (Haneda), it cannot be compared with a Jetstar fare to Tokyo (Narita)
 
Gee I hope they do fly out of MEL- Going from MEL via SYD anywhere is such a pain
