Hi All

This Forum kept popping up during recent searches so thought I'd do the decent thing and join. Felt so guilty I even purchased a Gold membership which simply confirms the golden rule of internet browsing - lock up your credit card when you pour your first after dinner wine.

Anyway, I'm from Adelaide, have been a frequent traveller in the past but changed work and life arrangements have meant that I travel infrequently these days and always at the back of the plane. Next trip is in December with my teenage sons to the US as a reward for their school efforts.

Cheers all

Welcome along, plenty of good info on here. Who are you using to get to the US in Dec?

Flying with Qantas, RB. Had a booking with Virgin but 2 days after booking Qantas (Aust F1 promotion) came in with fares that were cheaper even with the $1500 flight change penalty ($500x3, ouch).

Welcome aboard iRate, the Gold membership is worth it.

Hopefully you'll get to travel more in the future.

Cheers Hvr. Just had a look at the Gold benefits. Gave up my Qantas Club membership years ago, might renew with the discount offer that comes with Gold.

Hi All

have been a frequent traveller in the past but changed work and life arrangements have meant that I travel infrequently these days and always at the back of the plane.

The knowledge gained by reading and applying what is on this forum can see you travelling at the pointy end.

I actually earn far, far, more points now that I am not a frequent traveller as I simply now know far, far more ways to acquire points, and am alert to maximising various alternatives when they occur.

That is then supercharged, as knowledge also allows one to burn those points more effectively to gain a lot ore benefit for those points.

I used to fly for work every fortnight, and stay at hotels etc when away. Now I fly only a couple of work trips interstate per year, and mainly have free accomm, which means no points. Back then I would redeem in Y, now I only ever redeem in business, or first.

Knowledge and application allow one to ouperform.

That's what I want to hear! Took those big comfy seats at the front for granted when I was a skinny young man (when I was able to score one).

I wish you guys would hurry up and learn everything and travel at the pointy end so you can leave more room down the back for me. ;)
