The contract which was out for renewal is expected to be announced in the next fortnight.

Virgin held for 15 years. QF is wanting it back according to reports.

Lounges might get a little less crowded if they get the boot!

Are these AFL players typically quiet on these domestic flights or are they somewhat noisy?

Do they all travel in whY or are some upgraded to J?

That's been our experience as well. They come in, take their seats, grab food and drink, and head out when their flight's called. Just what you want...
Different story in the lounges. They hoover the food leaving nothing for the rest of us.
The staff try to re-stock, it is a losing battle.
Qantas has the advantage here with their group lounges.

I agree -- it makes the lounges extremely crowded.

The one upside is that one of the few times I've had an AFL team on my flight, I got an op-up to Business.

The deal was reported by one outlet as really at cost, it’s the flow on revenue that is key, was reported to be up to $400m.
Sorry for being dense but what "flow on revenue" are we talking about? I'm just trying to work out how VA can charge for flights at cost yet still make $400 million out of the deal.

Marketing is one ... AFL clubs send their members emails promoting packages including VA flights for interstate matches. (I believe clubs generally can't promote/offer such using other carriers.)
