Following on from Markis10's post, I have sent the envelope and received the two tags for Gold AFF membership. They are registered, on the bags, and ready to go!

Finally got around to ordering mine & they arrived today! I was a bit worried at first as they arrived in an aust post envelope stamped 'contents have been damaged during sorting' or the like. Fortunately they look fine, just the envelope ripped open, so they'll get to come with me soon syd-ams-prg-syd and then meet their new baby WP q- tag brother on return!

They work worldwide (as some AFF members can confirm) and after two years:

You will receive an email where you can optionally renew your coverage. Renewal costs just US$4.95 per tag for an additional year coverage.

I know that this is an old thread, but just wanted to say "These tags are great!!!!" Received mine today after joining as a Gold Member, and they are going to look great on my bags.

Now I just need to register them . . . . . .

Yes, they are great. Make sure you register both of them, as you may find the Carrier may let two bags go thru with the Tags. In my case, only the one baggage, but I had the other one registered in case of a spare.

I sent in my self-addressed envelope on spec when I renewed, and received two more, so now SWMBO has the tags as well.
