In my younger days I have flown this product many times, and IMO it is underwhelming.

The reason I flew it was mainly because of my Emirates Skywards Gold membership, which has now lapsed.

I don't see myself flying Emirates again (why would I?). They're just not competitive any more.

Any 3-4-3 config on a 777 is very underwhelming.

I also feel like EK's economy food on short haul flights is actually not great. I recently flew 2 short sectors on EK and it did not live up to my expectations.

First leg from DAD-BKK was on a cramped 777 and there was only a sandwich available for the meal. It was a midnight departure so maybe I was expecting too much.

On BKK-HKG I expected more though for a 3 hour daytime flight. It was on an A380 but for catering there was not even a meal choice - just 1 option available.

I took the mid morning SIN-DXB flight June last year and it was pretty good. Not a super full cabin and as I’d found a EK office in the city a day prior the lady there ended up blocking out a whole row for me which was lovely! I agree economy food isn't always the greatest and it’s a shame the free wifi is only for EK rewards members, that was one of two things I found better with QR (who had metal cutlery in economy and free wifi for everyone). I reckon it’s a great way of breaking up trips to Europe as each flight ends up only being like 5/6 hours. A little undecided as to whether I’ll do the same again this year but it’s certainly more pleasant than the direct MEL-DXB slogs

IME, you can just log in with your Skywards number; i.e. you no longer need to have the number attached to your booking.

Flying DXB-BCN in May (assuming war with Iran hasn't broken out or similar). Fortunately, the plane's been upgraded to a refurbished one with PE. Not looking forward to 3-4-3 in cattle but have placed my group of three across four seats in the centre in the preferred seats so hopefully one seat stays free. Chose it mainly because EK409 out of MEL allows me to get to Europe that same evening, which I don't think any other carriers do (other than SQ to LHR, CDG and FRA I think).
