AFF Member Stock Discussion

The stock market is telling us that the latest Federal Budget is a dud for capital creation.
With RiO you can buy the UK shares at quite a discount as they don’t pay franked dividends.

The low share turnover concerns me.
Much lower than REG
I think the sector is very fragmented - most are private operators.
RHC does age care but they are mainly a private hospital operator which likely is not a good idea given the economic headwinds and the reduction in the PHI rebates.

Politically unpalatable for an aged care provider to be profitable and /or paying dividends….
Where is the value ?

Tough industry when much of the competition is from not for profits or government.
And cutting costs can result in very negative headlines or government investigations.

What happens if voluntary assisted dying gets expanded?
Currently a growing market but many post war baby boomers may be more decisive about living on when the joy is gone.

Not going into REG/RYM

Hoping to go back into FRI at under $0.70 and got some SNC

Bid for VGN at 2.20 today prior to market opening but didn't get it.

I sold out of QPM some time ago.
The ability of Gas to command high electricity spot prices during peak electricity demand periods is being curtailed by renewables/batteries and gas share of NEM electricity market continues to shrink. (Green line is 2026).
It is building a small 110MW gas peaker generator by 2027 plus existing 2 gas peakers totalling about 250MW.

.....

How is the finance sector looking?
Looking again at non bank lender PLT, generating lots of cash (so far) but has a highly leveraged balance sheet.
Also increased its outstanding shares by 9% in the last year.

Ok a couple of tiddlers that may be ok.
Adairs which is ADH now has Blundy at 5% shareholding.
Acumentis which is ACU now has a new 5%shareholding.
We are now in Chicago with one day of our cruise to go.
Haven’t bought Viking shares but their product for cruising is excellent.
We do hold PLT and some time ago I called them because of their lack of profitability.
