I hear you. I can't stand Bankwest after the absolutely junk update to their mobile app a few months ago and now their draconian data collection policies, which if you don't agree to, you get cut off from online and mobile banking. The so-called consent is actually coercion since they are online-only bank and there is no other way to manage your accounts. I have a complaint lodged with AFCA.

I sold an investment property yesterday so that mortgage is now closed off with BW. My remaining mortgage, current accounts and credit card are all getting closed just as soon as I can arrange to remortgage with another bank. I likely go back to HSBC unless another bank's rates are substantially lower.

I'll never use BW again!

Someone opened a credit card using my address and then maxed it out never paying. No one we knew and could not be traced to any identity theft related to us. It took years to sort out with increasingly menacing letters about bailiffs etc landing on my door monthly. I contacted them constantly to rectify - its not us or anyone we know, clearly due diligence not performed. Refused to allow me to speak with their fraud team as ‘madam is not a customer’ but duly noted.

Only when bank ombud involved was it fixed - and was ceased. So much time and energy wasted.

That's an unfortunate experience however I think that any bank would have behaved the same way.

In Western Australia we can lock our drivers licences with our Dept of Transport so that stops a lot of credit card fraud.

Well @MARTINE that bank is getting stretched by the latest real estate prices around Australia.
