AFF Member Stock Discussion

Don’t worry @Dr Ralph it was not directed at you nor anyone else. Our success rate has never been 100% and never will be.We are not gurus. I have accounting and company law training and Mrscove was a librarian before she got the investing role.
We didn’t bother to sell CBA nor TCL as the market is in love with them. Both are priced for perfection but that may stay that way for a long time.
We discuss amounts to invest but sometimes the numbers can change at the last minute.

My friend at the hydrotherapy pool has his investments run by a financial planner so he hasn’t been told what is being done with his Transurban entitlement. That could happen to some of us when we get more miles on our clocks. I suggested he should call the financial planner.
My friend split up his farm sale proceeds to his two children so he avoided paying a percentage fee to the planner on gross assets.

It is an interesting point you raise - how much control of one’s folding is handed over to fin planners etc. I (being a control freak whose done research ++ for years) have always managed it myself (have an accountant of course but that is separate).
🤔🤔

We decided today to buy more CMW to yield 8% unfranked on some spare capital.
We bid on King Island Scheelite KIS that is re-starting their tungsten mine in Tasmania. The deal was at 14 cents. Waiting to hear how many we were allocated. That mine closed in 1990 when tungsten prices dropped dramatically.
@MARTINE we have Ophir, Westoz, CharterHall and Ozgrowth running funds.
Tonight we accepted offers for KIS and AXE placements from Cannacord. We upped the KIS quantity and received 37% of the number so quite happy.

I went w NSR for my speculative punt today - like the fundamentals and need for storage is ever expanding (no pun intended). Fin fundamentals looked good and it appealed to the tidy and organised nature of my personality!
Thankyou people
Fair enough, hope it goes well for you.

My punt in WOA ann an Oat Milk distribution deal this arvo & in Trading Halt, as these minnows like to do for each & every Ann.

See what comes of it in the details come Wednesday.

Not really related but I'm looking for some software that I can use on my PC for recording expenses - I don't need a budgeting tool because I know what I'm doing but I'd like a program that can import my credit card statements and autofill the different categories (most of which are alcohol suppliers and eating out)

Thanks

Microsoft Money used to do it well. I still use an older version. But I think they deprecated it. :(

We should have bought Costco shares before they did such a big jump. Instead we were at their Perth Airport store as customers.
Have had ATO quarterlies arrive in the mail so that puts a dampener on our cash flow in October.
For us in WA the market starts an hour earlier at 7am and finishes at 1pm as our State never adopted daylight saving.

I use MS Money too, version 2005. Yes, it's completely deprecated and none of the online stuff works any more but it is still a good package. I never understood why they canned it.

I believe that Money 2005 can still be downloaded from Microsoft too. You would want the UK edition as there wasn't ever an AU edition.

Pretty happy with this ( AFR On line):

CBA announced the final buyback discount of 14 per cent on shares against a market price of $103.05 on Monday morning. Investors will receive $88.62 for each share successfully tended including a $21.66 capital component and a fully franked dividend of $66.96.

But large scale back 🙄😱

Commonwealth Bank’s $6 billion buyback has been swamped by yield-hungry investors, forcing the bank to scale back shareholders heavily after the offer was oversubscribed by $18 billion.

The early bird catches the worm @cove 😂

9am to 3pm for us Queenslanders, so not quite such silly hours as WA. Other than the "curtains fading and the cows not being able to sleep", I have never understood why QLD is so backwards in its attitude towards DST.
