I can vouch that the Doubletree Esplanade isn't totally awful :D. November might not be the best time to go though...(disclaimer: I went in November). Also, still not sure who thought putting two Doubletrees immediately adjacent to each other was a good idea...

Wouldn't one just be a tree   :D

Yes, its the wet season up there. Cheaper but definitely not pleasant.

At the appropriate time a poll for locations will go up. When choosing between the locations in that poll, keep in mind that the date is not set in stone and will get a separate poll following the conclusion of the first. Hopefully during these two processes, someone can raise their hand to do the organising of the event.

Thanks to Josh for organizing AFF10 with some assistance from Sam and Jessica who did the herding of the cats once we were in Perth.

Good when Hilton have a sale that combines nicely with an Amex offer.

Thought I should add one or two photos

The group shot from Rottnest Island.

It was my 3rd visit to Rottnest and I still saw parts that I hadn't since before.

Dinner locations were both good, our Saturday night location I had walked past probably 100 times while I was in Perth, so it was nice to try out their food.

Another highlight was to visit the Aviation Heritage Museum of WA, really interesting exhibits, I will need to go back for a proper look.

One exhibit was this, the helicopter not the person in front of it who piloted when the aircraft was new.

When I returned I received a survey from Hilton which I completed asking, what happened to a lounge.

Talk to gwilli1, by suggesting it I believe he essentially volunteered! :p

Oh... so you say

Ironically , Im back in Perth , after spending 5 awesome days in Broome ...what a great place & another ticked off the bucket list .

A belated but not forgotten thanks to jsd , for awesome run event.

Staying at the The Sebel tonight , which is surprisingly quiet nice . Back to Sydney in the morning , arriving just in time for dinner and closing out an eventful and fun 9 days away . Look forward to seeing where AFF 11 takes us.

Out of curiosity where was the guest speaker from?

I don't know exact details, but he was a friend/colleague of straitman's, and I believe taught straitman to fly. He gave an informative speech on the history of helicopters, the technical term of which I forget :p
The guest speaker was Wing Commander (Ret'd) Noddy (Wayne) Parsons who was the A Flight Commander at Central Flying School (RAAF) when I was on Flying Instructors Course. He also did time with the RAAF Roulettes and later worked for airlines various. He flew Iroquois and C-130 in the RAAF and quite a few civilian types in later life.

Took the long and relaxing way home. 12490km via SIN, HKT, SIN again, MEL and home to HBA.

Jess still takes the cake on this one ;)

So many great posts in this thread I've just managed to catch up and get to the end; so a belated huge thanks to jsd, Jess, Sam and others for a great weekend.

Only downside was the flight home.:(
