Hi. Flying to LHR with Malaysian and then a week later have decided to fly to NYC and then onto Paris Seems quite a good deal with BA at 427 uk pounds each. The flight to Paris is a BA number but operated by AA
My questions are can I earn ff points on these flights if I book on the BA website or should I try and do the booking from here and quote our ff numbers

Also the luggage allowance with BA are 23 kilo checked and it seems the same for carry on so long as you can lift into overhead locker. Does anyone know if the codeshare AA flight to Paris is the same ? Going back to London for the return journey we will use Eurostar
Thanks all

You can always check the QF FF site for some of these answers, but on all oneworld travel, you get FF points credited as if you were flying on the airline that appears on your ticket. so in the case of the BA flight operated by AA, you earn points at the BA rate. This has its advantages and disadvantages depending on fare class. O class on AA does not earn points whereas it does on BA, BUT at 0.25points per mile for travel that is not between Australia and the the UK.

Qantas more often than not stipulates that points are not earnt on OW codeshare flights not operated by another OW partner. The exception is its own codeshare flights. A generic example is if you flew on an AA "flight" operated by Aeromexico, you would not earn the miles as its not a OW airline, but you would earn points on all QF codeshares including those operated by Asiana, Air France, South African, Vietnam Airlines and Deutsche Bahn (rail services) within Germany. There are significant conditions attached to non OW partner airlines that specify or exclude which fights you can and cant earn points on.

find the Airline earning table at Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions to see where you can or cant earn miles.

Thanks for th response, I am now just checking the baggage allowance. BA is generous in economy with 23 kilos checked and 23 kilos carry on so long as you can lift into the overhead locker. As we are returning NYC-CDG with BA flight number but operated by AA, wondering if they honour the weight too, from what I can read it seems to be 23 kilos checked and one bag in the locker overhead but does not mention weight. PLan to do a bit of shopping in New York but dont want to get caught with extra luggage rates.
