Hi guys,

Have found this forum to be a wealth of helpful information over the years, and hoping to get some advice on the following.

I'm about to loose my gold status this May due to lack of regular travel over the past 12 months.

I am ready to book MEL-FCO, VCE-MEL for travel in late September this year which will be a code share with QF/EK. I have some FF points to burn on upgrading the QF legs to J in and out of DXB, and realise I have to use flexifare booking classes for them to be eligible to upgrade.

My main question to those in the know is.... Given that I'll be booking this and putting in a points upgrade request while I'm still holding gold status, will this hold any weight when it comes time to travel in September and I've lost my gold status. ie, am I just wasting my money booking upgradeable QF sectors when its unlikely that I'll get them due to slipping down the status ladder?

Mike

We have found upgrades harder and harder to snag (and usually we are looking at PE to J). There are so many factors in play who knows where the upgrade fairy will land. We used to get upgrades pretty much all the time but over the past few trips, nah, zilch :(
