Looking at spending 4-5 nights in Singapore next year for our 15th Wedding anniversary. Currently looking at flights with QF from Perth, and can get us there and back for $1099 total in Y. Second option is to burn some points and travel in J, but currently only have enough points for J one way, Y back. Is J worth the points on this route, or am I better off paying the cash for Y? Any input would be useful before I make my choice!

I fly Y generally, and get the exit row with unlimited leg room for B/J, but a slide in the way for A/K which is not a big deal if your partner is next to you.

I did pay to upgrade to J last time on the trip home, $1000SGD per person SIN-PER.

You get a MK1 Skybed I believe it's called, and being only 5ish hours form 7pm, it's not really that worth it generally.

Have you looked at booking with Expedia.com.br? Or look at Avianca lifemiles, buying some miles when they are on promotion and then using them for J flights with SQ, that should come in under $1500 per person.

I wouldn't bother with the J class points as for two of you it will be 100k one way. I would however try and get some Qantas Club passes to use in Singapore before leaving as it it is an evening flight and a nice meal in the Qantas club before departure is always nice. If you don't mind me asking what dates were you planning for that price to Singapore?

Hi Bogieman, several dates between 12th - 25th April and 1st - 19th July 2014 returned that price for Y. During Oct 2014 it jumps to $2203 for the same flights?? We were over there in October this year, and were more than happy in Y class. Only reason I was looking at J was to make the wedding anniversary a bit special. How do I go about getting Qantas Club passes as your post suggests?

Yes J class is nice but the trip is quite quick and you don't actually get time to enjoy it. As Markis10 has said I would check the prices on expedia.com.br before booking. s far as passes go quite a few of the credit card companies are currently offering two free passes when you join with free points as well. Alternatively ask around as from time to time these passes become available.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Would you go prior to end Jul 2014?
If so, I have a Qclub pass in my wallet that I was going to get around to giving away. If you can secure another one before the end of Dec, then it's yours, as one by itself wouldn't work for you.

Thanks for the generous offer Cynicor, at this stage we will certainly be there before the end of July 2014 (looking at either April or July at this stage). If you have any suggestions on how I might best go about getting a 2nd one (new to this AFF forum so don't have much knowledge about such things) that would be appreciated. Already have CC/Amex linked to QF with NAB, not sure if it is worth getting another to get a Qclub pass or not?

Cheers

Getting a new c/card and then cancelling once goodies received is not unusual!!

Thanks for all the advice people. Managed to get two Y class fares for $579 return on QF77/78 before the sale ran out. Checked today and the same fares have doubled in price, so pretty happy with that!
