Can you help with some advice on my flight change as follows:

- We have a FF points booking from Syd to Sing to LHR on Dec 16
- The Syd / Sing flight is with QF (QF5) and the Sing / LHR flight is with BA
- We are a family of four

- I have learned today that the Syd / Sing flight has been changed from a 747 to a A330, which doesn't have prem economy seats
- So .... they've gone and booked us instead onto a Syd/Bris/Sing flight in prem econ
- The new flight isn't great ..... it leaves syd at 8am instead of 2.30pm, there's a 5 or 6 hour layover in sing instead of a 'straight thru' connection .... plus we go via brisbane.
- All this wouldnt' be so bad but we are travelling with a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Flights to the UK are bad enough .... without adding in extra flights and long lay overs.
- We worked very hard looking at all sorts of permutations to get our original flights.
- We are CL members.

- So my questions are ....
- .... What advice do you have in dealing with qantas ?
- .... What can we realistically expect them to do ?
- I'd hate to think i have become a travel snob
- Options we could ask for ..............
........ upgrade to business on the original flights (we'd be happy to spend the points, but there are no business seats available)
........ push hard for them to free up pe seats on another route into LHR ?

Any advice gratefully received.

Were you notified of the flight changes by email? If so, I would ring them and ask what the alternatives are. As a CL, you are coming from a position of strength.

They may be able to free up award seats on the A330, especially if you offer to use points to upgrade.

Worst thing that you could ask for is a 'downgrade' to Y on the SYD-SIN leg. Mostly a daylight flight so not too bad an option.

You could be stuck in DRW for six hours with young kids..... Enjoy the time in SIN. There is plenty to do and steam let off in SIN means more sleep time en route to LHR. Having been stuck in transit for 17 hours flying DRW-SIN-MUC with kids the same age, I can say the break was welcome. On the return leg, we were delayed ex MUC and had only 50 mins in transit. Combo of changing terminals, nappies, etc. meant we were rushed and not relaxed.

Ring the CL team and get them to rebook you onto QF1 straight through to LHR, unless you have a problem with DXB in which case you can try SYD-HKG QF A380 and then HKG-LHR BA 777

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
