I am currently waiting at Toronto for an AC flight to DFW. I then plan to catch QF8 back to Syd. Fortunately, I was able to check my bags all the way through.
What do I need to do at DFW? I have my Qf boarding pass printed out. Do I need to go outside or to a desk? FWIW I have QC acess. Thanks in advance.

You will need to clear customs/immigration so will have to collect your bags in DFW, then after you are cleared take them to the baggage transfer belt. Other than that enjoy the AC.

I am now in DFW. I cleared us immigration in Toronto, so that is not an issue.
Watching a BA flight board, they want connecting pax to go to the gate and check passports. That may be what I have to do.

Yes, when travelling from Canada to the USA US immigration is done on departure from major Canadian ports.

Have you found the lounge yet?

It's all sorted now. I went up to the QC, they got my passport details and reissued my BP.
Not having to get my baggage and recheck in has certainly saved alot of hassle.
