Advanced Seat Selection Issue - BA/QF

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

Being a cheapskate I booked a whY+ return trip to the UK via the Zuji website. I'm MEL based so the trip included whY flights to and from SYD as part of the deal.

The flight to Sydney has a QF flight number and the flight back the following week has a BA flight number.

I selected my seat for the QF flight via the QF website and the two international flights via the BA site using my booking reference number. These seats now appear in "My Bookings" on the QF site.

I am not able to select a seat on the SYD-MEL flight on either website, and when I telephone QF and BA neither can allocate a seat. :shock:

Does this sound right? :?:

Everything else is just fine. I have been able to allocate my preferred bulkhead seat with BA and am in my preferred seat with QF.

Don't know why, didn't really go into it, but on my recent 140,000 OW award RTW ticket i callled up QFF and could allocate seats for practically all the flight segments (not the BA or IB flights) but even though they are part of the award not the first flight from ADL to MEL or SYD to ADL which is the last flight of the award...

just assumed i would have to wait till closer to the departure date and allocate via the website...

BA has very specific rules regarding who can pre-allocate seats. This is based on the fare class purchased (most full-fare classes can allocate seats, discounted fares cannot and awards falls into the non-allocation category) and FF status. The BA reservations system uses the included FF details and fare class to determine if you are able to pre-allocate. There are examples of the FF number not being correctly inserted and needing to be removed and added again correctly to enable allocation.
