Am I better off accessing ACs at LAX T4 and JFK T8 using AA PLAT Card (both accesses will be part of an international same day itinerary) or using a QP (Bronze) card? I believe complimentary drinks voucher(s) - how many do they allow?- are supposed to come with the QP card, but do they also come with the AA PLT card? Any other possible advantages/disadvantages in using one or the other?

And lastly, are there better lounges than AC at my disposal in these locations? The above 2 cards will be all I have and am flying at the back of the b*s.

Thanks

The only lounges available in those particular terminals will be the Admirals Club lounges.

Qantas Club card entitles you to access and generally they will provide at least one drink voucher. Sometimes the gate keeper needs to be reminded. Sometimes they provide 2 vouchers, sometimes only one. If you ask nicely they will generally provide at least two.

I am not aware of the drink voucher entitlement for AA Plat members on an international itinerary, but its certainly not going to be any better than what you get from Qantas Club membership entitlement.

Three seperate, yet related points -

 In some LOTFAP locations, the card you use for entry depends entirely on the flight number of your next sector.

 Your AA Plat card with get you into the "inner sanctum" lounge where there is one. This is best described as a QP equivalent - no drink vouchers needed.

 Where the lounge is just a standard lounge, use whichever card will get you inside easiest. There is no difference to the benefits once inside. The number of drink vouchers depends entirely on the person at the desk, and how good their day has been...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Are you refering to the AA Flagship Lounges? If so, then he needs to be on an international itinerary and hold AA Executive Platinum status. AA Plat status will only get into the regular Admirals Club lounge.

There is no FL at JFK. As far as I know, there are only two remaining AA Flagship Lounges, being LAX T4 and ORD (end of K concourse).

Thanks guys for the responses. Looks like QP card is first preference...

Cheers

Umm...not sure what you are referring to?

The only "inner sanctums" would be the Flagship lounges and AA platinum would not grant access. Flagship lounges are restricted to OW Emeralds

The best card to show is the Qantas Club card since, as mentioned, will grant drinks vouchers and also works when travelling domestically whilst the AA card only grants access when travelling internationally that day and no drinks vouchers are grantes

I didn't realise QC got drinks vouchers at AC. Wish I'd known that before all my AC visits last year!

Yes, it's a shame odoherty. :( Timing is everything! I'm finding out bits and pieces all the time, no doubt there will be many things I discover 'too late' to take full advantage of. Wish I had known of the existence of this board and FT long before I actually did...would have helped me immensely in the past, as indeed it is doing now.

Cheers.
