On attempt no. 5 - I have finally found a place that is not booked out
:
Bistro Dom
Bistro Dom are prepared to have us but they have told me as follows:
"Hi Anna
Just getting in touch in regards to your booking enquiry for 14 people at 7pm on the 9th of August. I have tentatively booked you in for the moment.
With a group of that size we do require you to do one of a few options.
We have 3 options from which to choose.
3 Course Menu $73.50 per head
Entree - 3 choices
Main - 3 choices
Dessert - Choices
2 course Menu $63.50 per head
Entree - 3 choices
Main - 3 choices
This a good idea if you would prefer to have more options. I have attached a sample menu to give you an idea of how this would work. It is a winter menu, reflective of what will be on in early August although we would confirm menus closer to the date. We can also, if you wish, tailor a beverage package to match, according to your requirements."
Sample menu -
menu
small plate
house hot smoked Atlantic salmon, swede, Jerusalem artichoke skin
Basket Range rabbit, sponge crumb, pickled pear
soft & crispy potatoes, seaweed tapenade, soft curds
main
Hawkers Creek lamb, lentils, onions, walnuts
Northern Territory barramundi, celery heart puree, confit leek
Adelaide Hills venison, beetroot, pickled rhubarb, cavolo nero
sweet
dark chocolate & sea salt caramel egg
quince ice-cream, chestnuts, almonds, meringue
selection of local and international artisanal cheese, lavosh, fig slice
Seeking some feedback now on whether this sounds ok, whether people prefer 2 courses or 3 courses, and whether anyone wants a drinks package. Also, how many vegetarians do we have?
If people don't like the sound of Bistro Dom then the alternatives would be to go down-market to a pub-type place, or to go less central in the CBD or even out of the CBD altogether. Just about everywhere else decent is either fully booked or not open that night.
