staying at Intercontinental king club room
what can we expect with lounge etc (first time in Adelaide and except Canberra always stay at Hiltons ) so we are a little bit clueless.

also what to do in Adelaide (couple in their mid- late 20's)
restaurant recommendations, activities etc.
interest - comedy, wine (red & champagne/sparkling), fine dinning, pancakes (wife) good coffees (wife), shopping (I wonder)

will hire car for a couple of days (undecided for all the days we are there)

also best way from airport to hotel/city flight gets in around 4pm Adelaide time

and also the wife ask ( I just say check the weather as we get closer to departure) what can we expect with the weather (she wants to dress up Melbourne cold weather style [we live in north Qld so our 20 degrees might be hot compared to southern states 20 degrees at Easter with the wind coming off the Antarctic]).

I left ADL a bit over 3 years ago, I'm sure someone will update my post if things have changed...

Alot of shops will close around ADL CBD for the Easter w/e from memory. Jetty Rd Glenelg will be open.

Fine dining - Gouger and Grote Streets will provide lots of nice restaurants. I've had lovely meals at Sosta on Rundle St (Argentinian) and Alphutte (Swiss) on Pulteney St. For something a bit different, I would book a window seat at Windy Point Restaurant (not the cafe). The views are amazing (~15 mins south of the CBD)

McLaren Vale is my fave winery region in SA, lots of nice reds available.

ADL airport is ~15 mins from the CBD, I would grab a taxi.

The weather will be warmer than MEL. IIRC 20 degrees is a fair estimate of the temperature.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

ADL CBD (Rundle Mall) shops will be open every day except Good Friday

Fine dining - Auge in Grote Street, d'Artagnan in O'Connell Street, Nth Adelaide, Jolly's Boathouse off King William Rd, Press in Waymouth Street. Lots of restaurants in Rundle Street and Sosta is a good spot, some good spots also in Hutt Street.

If McLaren Vale too far to venture then pick up a map of Hills wineries.

I find the Hills and Barossa to be closer to the city than Mc Laren Vale, but that's just because I live on the north side of Adelaide.

Dining: Jasmin On Hindmarsh Square - enjoy the banquet with a bottle of Rockford Black Shiraz (Red and bubbles in one) followed by Rockford Basket Press Shiraz if required.
Bistro Dom is great for lunch also on Waymouth St Bistro Dom
Gouger St also has many places to eat

Temperature wise you should be pretty cold as there should be very little humidity. I find Sydney to be hot all year round when I travel over from Adelaide. Currently, I'm using a blanket most nights. but the days are rather nice and warm. Coming from North Queensland I'd expect you should be able to do cold weather dressing at least in the evening. We haven't used the A/C for a couple of weeks. ;)

Tram is free between North Terrace (where the Intercontinental is located) and South Terrace

I've seen some Sunday night markets on North Terrace that look interesting, but haven't managed to get to them yet. Adelaide Night Market | Splash Adelaide

There is a public bus from the airport to the city, which would be the cheapest option at about $5 each. A taxi shouldn't cost more than about $20-$25.

A funky place for a drink is The Apothecary 118 Hindley Street. The Barossa is easy to get to and plenty of winery options, although I'd be concerned about them being closed at Easter. Aim for lunch at Maggie Beer's farm Shop at Nuriootpa If you like dogs there's a very friendly one at Turkey Flat Vineyard in Tanunda. Enjoy!

My pick would be Maclaren Vale , unless the foodie in you says the little towns around the Barossa.

Enjoy. Adelaide has many treats (also has a few downfalls like port adl supporters.....). Allphutte restaurant is my clear fav.

I've just received notice that Chapel Hill winery in Mclaren Vale is having some sort of bin end sale this weekend. Open 11-5 Saturday Sunday Monday.

I'm just on their mailing list, no benefit to me.

Rent a car and go to:

1) Maclaren Vale
2) Barossa Valley
3) Eden Vale

Lots of fine dining in all the three places. Buy lots of boutique wine to take home

The Oakbank (horse steeple jump) races are held on the Easter weekend so traffic in the hills can be fairly horrendous particularly in the mornings and evenings as people go to and from the race track. Greater police presence and breathalyzers as well, so if you did go wine tasting in the hills region be very careful of how much you taste if driving.
