Adelaide dinner 1 May 2021

Like a few other AFFers I've taken advantage of the great Qantas sale to Adelaide that's on at the moment.

It's been a while since there's been an AFF dinner in Adelaide, so I thought I'd start my own event thread. If anyone else is visiting Adelaide, or lives in town and will be around on Saturday 1 May 2021, you're most welcome to join.

Restaurant TBA. If any locals have a restaurant suggestion, feel free to chime in

I’m keen to get to Adelaide but dinner might be a bit difficult with a new baby. Will keep an eye on this thread.

I'll actually be there 2 weeks earlier, but will struggle to meet any of the locals, as already plan to visit Shobosho, Hey Jupiter, Africola and Osteria Oggi in 2 nights, while also fitting in a visit to Rockford. I did look at return flights though, about ~$400.

As I have been free loading and inviting myself to the MEL Olive Tree dinners in MEL for a few years, I am now casting the net a little wider @boomy, @Hvr, @tuapekastar, @Goodonya (last minute), @penegal (copper), @Cruiser Elite (the usual suspects), and all the Mods and friends to kick something off in ADL. All I have seen from the ADL members is reasons why they cannot attend a function rather can join. Mrs M is not a member of AFF however is willing to suggest eating places close to what she understands the requirements to be i.e. close to the Hilton, IHG or Marriott chain .

I seem to recall the last time ADL had any type of gathering was the 2018 annual meet up. @Mattg if there is no traction on getting an ADL event on the cards I will be happy to catch up for dinner.

Construction of the Marriott in the old GPO building appears to have started - at least, the site now has Marriott branding along with developer branding on the signs that have been put up around the site. Not sure when it is scheduled to open - it won't be in 2021 I would say, but maybe 2022?

Thanks @Matt_01. Yeah, with these kinds of things you're never going to get a date that works for everybody so I figured it would be best to just pick a day and hope it works for most. Otherwise, no event would get off the ground.
