As Velocity Platinum (or Gold) can I book a Basic fare with EY and expect to recieve my additional 20kgs (or 15) of luggage, effectively bumping me from 0kgs to 20kgs?

For most airlines (including VA themselves) logic would dictate no BUT I noticed EY extend this benefit to their own top tier members. I was hopeful given we get first class lounge access that I might get lucky with this.

Just wondering if anyone had actual experience of this because when I asked EY they seemed to have no idea.

Someone recently tried this and had no issues, they reported back saying they got the luggage allowance as a VA status holder despite being on a basic fare:

Perfect, thank you. I knew someone would have posted I just couldn’t find it.
Now I can cancel my Wizz flights and enjoy the lounge at AUH
