Apologies if this question was answered elsewhere but thought I’d ask in case it wasn’t. Between the Accor+ Gold and Platinum boosters along with the copious amount of nights spent at Accor properties across Australia, I’ll be closing in on Platinum status soon. As it presently stands, I’ve got 55 stay nights this year, with a further 2 stay nights to come later this month in Melbourne. At the end of the month I will be hitting Platinum part way through my stay in Canberra (7 nights). My question is how that property will recognize my status at checkin? Will they treat me as a Gold despite me crossing the 60 night threshold part way through the stay? Alternatively, would they treat me as a Platinum at check-in knowing full well I’ll surpass the 60 nights at the end of the stay?

Really looking forward to getting my free brekkie at the Ibis Styles Canberra!

Yes, because your status will be Gold for the entirety of the stay - the 7 nights will not credit until after checking out, at which point you will move up to Platinum.

Alternatively, would they treat me as a Platinum at check-in knowing full well I’ll surpass the 60 nights at the end of the stay?

I don't believe Accor properties can see how many nights you have stayed across the Accor portfolio in your current year.

Really looking forward to getting my free brekkie at the Ibis Styles Canberra!

You may want to temper those expectations as won't be entitled to it...

They won't know. You will check in as Gold, and will be treated as such during the stay.

Do you know who I am? Probably not! That's why I carry the American Express card. No longer do I have to be a Member of Parliament or Alan Joyce to get the treatment I deserve 😂:

Joking aside, thanks for the heads up. Will temper my expectations whilst I look forward to my first stay as a newly minted Platinum at the Mercure Gold Coast later in December.

Curb your enthusiasm.........I managed to crawl into the lofty Plats only to be told on my last two visits we have no upgrade rooms.......

It's not a flash program, and I reckon it gets down to the property and the front desk room allocation guys on the day over being strategically coordinated from a war room.

Tell the guys at the front you'll make Platinum during your stay, and you anticipate their generous spirit: no harm and all upside.

I'm not too worried about the upgrades. Frankly so long as there is a reasonable desk and no bed bugs, I ain't complaining! 😂

The main driver for me (and maybe I'm putting too much value here) is the free brekkie. I'm the type of person who will stroll into the buffet with a brown paper bag fill up the bag and proceed to leave! I need to get all the value out of that $18 NZD/night hotel I booked in Auckland next year! 🤣

Fair point. I'll give it a go. Not expecting much either way, especially from an Ibis Styles of all places! 😅

As a Platinum the free brekky in some places and the odd Executive Lounge help when you're away so often.

I've just requalified for Diamond at 60 nights with 6 months to spare (some heavy entertaining $$$ charged to room) 😵 bit of a difference to Platinum but mostly wine and chocolates / cheese platters etc delivered to your room gratis and the occasional upgrade. I'm looking to wind right back next year 🤫

Recent trip through Asia I felt Diamond opened a lot more doors. Exceptionally well treated in many properties and no bad experiences.
