Staying at an Ibis Styles in Southbank tonight and while redeeming an in app drink voucher, I accidently activated "help" and saw this.



That indicates hotels have the ability to populate this information - if kept up to date it could be very useful.

Failing that, I think this thread can be used for members Silver and above to post their "Welcome Drink" experince at individual hotels so others can get an idea of what they may expect. I am aware this information is often posted in the “How does Accor treat you as an elite guest” thread but by putting the info here, it's in the one place.

My experience in Australia has, I think, always been what you had in Southbank - house wine or basic beer. I stayed at the Mondrian in Singapore last year and they had a couple of very nice coughtails available (the coughstar Martini was delicious) so it might be a SE Asian thing to be more generous?

I think most people post the welcome drinks on the “How does Accor treat you as an elite guest” pages but generally as mentioned it’s often a beer or house wine. Some have a mu or a list whilst others you just ask at the bar and often they can be pretty flexible. As a Diamond you often get some extra leeway and likewise the more expensive properties will often let you get pretty much anything. A few examples are Raffles Boston was a US$80 bar voucher, Raffles Jakarta, Raffles Doha, Fairmont Doha, Fairmont Washington to name a few help yourself to whatever.
Asia is definitely more generous and often is beer, wine and spirits with coughtails also on offer. We are current at the Pullman Adelaide and its beer, house wine or spirits but the barman let us be a bit more liberal with our selections as we are regulars so the “top shelf” stuff is allowed

Except the cheaper seats (beds) in Jakarta. The Ibis Styles (CGK) is soda or juice. Ask for a beer or wine and they giggle. We had a similar experience downtown at the “all seasons Jakarta Thamrin” (not to be confused with a Four Seasons)! It’s actually not a bad place - technically an Ibis Budget but more likely an Ibis Styles (including rooftop restaurant and bar) - again, giggles asking for alcohol, even though they sell it….

Pullman Chongqing was soft drink or tea/coffee only, no spirits.
Banyan Tree Shanghai flat out refused a welcome drink and said “oh we don’t honour that benefit”

Evening arrival, was just ok (due to air con issues- sorted after 99 minutes) for a brief overnighter, close to the airport with shuttle, had no/low expectations @jase05 !

After reading yours and others experiences at Raffles Jakarta , our 2 nights there

Yeah, that’s fair enough. Had a few bad experiences with Ibis properties over the years so stay in them around Australia for work in areas where there is nothing else but overseas we just avoid them. If a early/late flight in our out of CGK we head to PIK for one of the hotels there

The sign is new(ish). But curiously, a lot of places don’t differentiate on status for comp drink. As mentioned above, lots of places might have a menu.

We were booked for the Mercure PIK next month - thought it would be better for a longer layover between QF and then QR, 24+ hr layover. I was partly interested to see what welcome drinks were on offer! Anyway, cancelled for the Anara having switched to CX.

Pullman Reef Cairns still uses little welcome drink invite cards redeemable at all casino bars or Merchant cafe. ALL Platinum & above get a little black dot sticker on their cards which opens up a full anything from the bar including top self spirits and coughtails. Reception staff turnover is high & some don't even know its purpose so if you are black dot entitled and didn't get one, ask for it otherwise the bare card will only avail you to a very limited selection of beer, house wine, not even bottled water.
Your room number, date & name are written on the card and I think may be returned to the hotel for checking & cross charging so I don't recommend bringing ● from the home craft box

Sofitel Munich (a very nice hotel) they said anything up to 20 Euros in the (also very nice) bar... happy with that. And they made the offer!

Mercure Paris Opera Louvre they pointed to a fridge in the reception area, and said take one of anything - 1 of 2 beers, the rest were softies... not so happy with that (to their credit they did offer to open the beer). Oh and the beer was warmish and kinda cough tasting. Plus, I had to ask.

They previously did a 'mini-coughtail' which I've had previous success just having a regular coughtail comped. This ceased this year to my knowledge.

Just stayed at the Novotel South Brisbane. I think house wine tends to be the norm in Aus. I found we had a few white/red options that were mostly Victorian and 3 beers which were alright.

Novotel Collins St, MEL had Beer, Wine and some mixed drinks (eg G&T) when I was last there earlier in the year. Pleasantly surprised.

The Mercure South Bank gave us a bottle of wine, just after it had rebadged from a Travelodge and they hadn’t got the bar up and running.

Chose Heineken draft… ice cold, perfect for this Paris day… was hoping for a little more than 250ml, but hit the spot anyways
