Accor Plus Membership Discussion

It's less than I want to book multiple rooms and more that there are almost never discounts on higher occupancy rooms. I can book 2 discounted rooms but that is going to end up costing more than a single larger room which isn't discounted.

Point being, more than 2 pax = unlikely to actually benefit from red hot rooms discount-wise
Not defending Accor and the way they manage their promotions, but (at the risk of stating the obvious) I would assume that those needing to book higher occupancy rooms do not form the core customer base (and hence, the target of such promotions). Plus, I’m sure they’d be much happier with you booking multiple rooms than just a single one.
 
I've banged this drum many times before on AFF, but I can't speak highly enough of the value Miss Mi @ Movenpick Melbourne offers. It's a bloody hatted restaurant which honours the Accor Plus dining discount!

Do you usually call up the restaurant prior to visit to check if they honour the Accor Plus discount?
 
I find the Red Hot Rooms are always for a short notice, rarely can take advantage as I plan ahead.
Respectfully, I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. If anything the Red Hot Rooms incentivize those who plan ahead. Case in point the wonderful Movenpick Hobart I stayed at last month now has a red hot room rate of $119.50/night. If you search a couple weeks out you simply won't find the rate:

However, if you make use of the rate calendar feature (see the small link Open rate calendar), you can keep looking for future weeks and eventually stumble on when the red hot rate is available:Screenshot 2023-05-01 at 09.03.40.png

So yeah if you are flexible with your dates and are someone who books ahead (often months in advance) you can easily take advantage of these offers.

The email I got today re Red Hot Rooms said 50% off for stays up to 31st May - that is short notice IMO. Flights within 4 weeks of departure are astronomical - I like to book 6 months or more out where possible.

Many of the deals allow stays up to end of Sep/Oct.. see my post upthread.

Maybe not, but they take my money the way they take anyone else's. I'd agree with your assessment if I didn't have to pay $399 to access these deals but I do, and nothing at Accor Plus signup time says I shouldn't, so I do think it's poor form.

Also keep in mind that if the idea is that those who travel as more than single / couple probably aren't as frequent travelers as those that do, that's probably true*, but for both flight and hotel loyalty programs my whole approach is that I travel by necessity for work (usually as a solo traveler) and then for leisure as a family, so the point being, if I can't make use of benefits for family bookings they're pretty much useless to me. I'm not convinced I should get less value than others when I am paying for the same thing.

Don’t disagree with you and I’m sure I’d feel similarly were I to be in your shoes. I guess that’s feedback that needs to be given to Accor if/when you indicate your reluctance to renew membership (if not prior). They need this sort of feedback to make the program more appealing to more customers.

I don't think it's targetted to a demographic like that, but rather a very high percentage of hotel rooms (guesstimate 95%+ in CBDs) being designed for solo/couple travellers.

These CBD properties usually service families via connecting rooms (which you could request on a red hot rate) rather than proper 2br+ suites.

At the end of the day, red hot rooms are like private access to distressed inventory (i.e. oversupply) which the property would rather break even or take a small loss on than go empty for the night.

The relative undersupply of 2/3br apartment style rooms would probably be the reason we don't usually see red hot rates for these categories IMO.
 
Family rooms seem much easier to find to than twin rooms these days - many hotels seems to think everyone is a solo, romantic couple or family - finding choices for two platonic friends who want their own bed isn't easy in Aus or Pacific (although dead easy in the USA but then you have the SHUB issue).

I have some rewards points in my ALL account that I want to burn on a booking that will be for my wife and son. I will be staying at home with our other 2 children. Is this allowed?
 
Just a small data point - I was trying to book a stay at Movenpick Hobart 30 Sep - 2 Oct (October long weekend), the ALL engine was giving me a Red Hot Room rate for both nights but erroring on payment.

Turns out 30 Sep is the final day of the Red Hot rate. Emailed the hotel, they've honoured the Red Hot Room for the whole stay, avg $158 per night. I'll take that!

I've found Movenpick Hobart to be absolutely fantastic with customer service. I have made mistakes on bookings previously and they have called and rectified them to my benefit. I really enjoy staying there and booked again with this Red Hot rate.
 
I have got 2 free nights from signing up through accor plus Malaysia. It states only one free night can be used 'per stay'. I was wondering if we could use the two free nights in the same stay by booking the two nights as separate reservations and asking them to combine at check in. Has Anyone encountered problems doing this?

I haven't done it but reports online indicate it's up to the individual hotel.

I think in Asia they're more strict meanwhile Australia/NZ doesn't seem to care as much.
 
So my Plus membership expires at end of June, haven't seen any offers to renew yet.

If i don't renew, will any plus rate rooms I book before 30th June still stick or will price randomly jump up? Im looking at booking 2 rooms for a July family extended weekend in Perth and whilst I generally prefer IGH, both the IC and CP looking tired vs Novotel seems to have decent deal.

Also Im currently gold, got there based on spend in 2022 before joining Plus in June, I assume that if I renew plus instead of just having gold until 31 Dec 23 It will get extended to 30 June 24??

I think if you book a prepaid non-refundable rate, you'll have a far higher chance of the price sticking as the front desk are less likely to even look at the rate. If you book a flexible/pay at property rate, they're more likely to notice the conditions on the booking requiring an Accor Plus membership.

Given your planned stay is within a month of your membership expiring, you could also gift yourself any remaining 'member for a day' certificates just prior to June 30, which are valid for 30 days from issue.

Your Accor Plus membership renewal date is separate from your ALL membership status year. Renewing Accor Plus won't extend your status.

Correct. If you renew your AccorPlus, your status will be reviewed for your AccorPlus year.
