Accor - Platinum Benefits?

Has anyone with Le Club Accor Platinum stayed at the Cairns International? I have a 4 night stay later this year and am tossing up between the Hilton with HH Gold status, or trying my luck with Pullman and Le Club Platinum.

Yes, I always look forward to walking in the grand foyer. Platinum benefits always acknowledged. It's a short stroll from the esplanade, bws and woolies if required. The newish pool deck also looks great. If you go with accor try to get a bay facing room. A phone call to reservation to request a bay facing room was accommodated. (Despite booking a standard room).

There are 2 Pullman's in Cairns the Casino is the better one though neither have Executive Club.
To confuse the matter even more by all accounts Harbour Lights in Cairns has highest rating of Accor Hotels in Cairns.
Enjoy!

I have been to meetings at both the Pullmans, but only stayed at the International. I preferred the public areas of the International and remember my room being very nice with a harbour view, but haven't seen the rooms at the casino so cant compare.

The Harbour Lights doesn't have a lounge either from memory.

At Auckland Airport Novatel on the weekend and was charged a payment guarantee on arrival. I pointed out that as a platinum I should not pay a guarantee and was told that that was only for their regular customers. I did ask for an upgrade and she said I can do that, so that was OK.
In my room I messaged the hotel on facebook and pointed them to the proper page on the website. I then an hour latter got a phone call saying that they checked on the website and where sorry for their error. They also said it must be something new and they will inform the staff. There aren't many benefits and you think it would be easy to keep up to date.

Have a few stays at Accor hotels over the next week.

Expecting nothing so let's see!

Does anyone get any real benefits? I am Plat due to spend but rarely get any upgrades or anything else. Recently a manager told me that they only gave upgrades if you arrive late at night and they don't expect to sell the room.

Unless you stay at Pullman hotels or non Oz Sofitels then not much.

Of course, look up thread - even at least one Pullman in Oz may be trying to deny benefits.

Hi GCC. Stayed there as a Plat a few months ago. They were great...go for it...excellent location, and they really looked after me.

We stayed at the Casino in December - no lounge but given some drink vouchers and a bottle of wine delivered to the room. Really liked the hotel. Staff were great and pool area was good too

Just stayed at The Sebel Kirkton Park got upgrade to best room in the house and one free drink.

Anyone had any experiences of plat benefits when booking through third party website? Booked bargain for Heathrow Sofitel on lastminute.com and was wondering whether am likely to get access to lounge

I recall the benefits don't extend to bookings made via third party sites, Wotif and the like. Must be booked direct with Accor.

Just stayed at Mecure Sydney where we had 3 rooms, had booked 2 standard double & 1 standard twin room. When I arrived, they had already upgraded the double rooms to king priviledge rooms. The twin room hadn't been upgraded but I asked about it & they happily upgraded it to the largest room they had with 2 queen beds on the top floor. Pretty pleased with that! Staying there again in a couple of weeks.

Citygate Melbourne offered free internet but only via Ethernet cable (not wifi) and one free drink.

Sofitel Wentworth Sydney - stayed 1 night, got free drink voucher, free internet and wifi, free bottle of red wine in my room, free hand made chocolates
But your platinum card does NOT give you access to their lounge which is a bummer

Sofitel Melbourne.
No acknowledgement of status at checkin. Was provided the room booked, I directly asked if a room upgrade was available and was told 'no, we are fully booked'. No drink voucher given, no information about free wifi given. Arrived at 12noon and was not able to get into room, I did request a later checked out of 12.30 and was told they would have to check and get back to me (I never had the request confirmed, but I stayed in the room until 12.30 without event). Fruit plate and small box of chocolates were in the room when I returned to the hotel late afternoon.
