Accor - Platinum Benefits?

I am staying at The Menzies, Sydney this weekend. I am Platinum member. What benefits can I expect/not expect to receive? I can't see anything about the Menzies brand on the Accor website. Thanks.

I will be interested in your experience here. I thought it was rubbish, old and had a terrible musty smell!!

I stayed at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park on Monday night and it was absolutely sensational. The welcome was so warm and genuine and then it just went from sensational to sublime.

- room upgrade and I had one of the best sleeps I've had for years
- drink voucher in the bar
- bottle of wine in the room
- late checkout to 5pm if I wanted it (unfortunately I had to leave at 9am)
- and the best part, the Executive Lounge was open and so I had access to it.

Elias in the lounge was outstanding. It was fairly quiet (given this is the 5th time I've stayed there and the first the lounge has been open I'm not surprised it was quiet) but seriously, it was so good. Nice food, wine and just a beautiful atmosphere.

I know it's not smack bang in the city, but if you have a car, this is the place to stay, especially if they keep the Lounge open. They are trialling the lounge for the next few months and I really hope it works for them.

check it out if you are in Melbourne and need a room.

Nice to see the lounge was actually open.

the only Pullman where we haven't had a bottle of wine in the room (though one did try to charge me for it).

I also stayed at the Pullman Albert Park last week. Exec Lounge was open and I had opportunity to discuss the past lounge closures in detail with a Manager of knowledge. I've been given every assurance that:
- our voices over lounge availability have been heard
- the Lounge will almost always be open from now on
- level 9 will include lounge access (for those not Plat)...I'm guessing for a fee
- on the rare occasion, the lounge is closed, comparable service will be provided elsewhere (drinks/nibbles)

For me, which is mostly for business, Albert Park is one of my locations of choice due to it's ease of access and being not far outside the CBD.

I came away feeling welcome and patronage valued. I'll certainly be back - next week.

I stayed at Pullman Olympic Park last week - seems the Exec Lounge has been more formalised there too. On a prior visit there was simply no Exec Lounge due to a conference using the facility. Last week I was given a formal notice - and participated in complementary drinks/canapes at the bar.

Does anyone have any experience of what the Accor "Fairmont Resort" at Leura might offer to a platinum?

I was there last year - booked two rooms as platinum, both got upgraded to next level up & received free drink vouchers, fruit platter and late check-out.

We got absolutely nothing when we stayed there three nights last year. We did book the best room though (luxury suite).

Despite that we still had a decent stay. The management are coughs but the regular staff are lovely. Dinner at Eucalypt restaurant was outstanding.

We'd go back.

Obviously no upgrade options but you should have received welcome drinks!
In my experience this depends on the property and sometimes on the staff, if they are not forthcoming they should be reminded, don't be afraid to ask for published benefits ;)

If I book a room mostly paid with points. Will I still get full Platinum benefits ?

I booked a 2 night stay at Novotel Brisbane using a free night on Origin Wednesday, booking for the most basic room. Upgraded to top floor suite with spa, cheese platter, wine, chocolates, water and fruit plus drink vouchers. Best upgrade I've ever received in my 2 years as a platinum member!

off to the Pullman sydney olympic park this weekend - have a work commitment nearby so prefer to be close rather than in the city. haven't read anything about this place on the thread so will write back when we're back.

Looking forward to this review cheers. Wondering Platinum members get Executive Lounge (i will assume yes) ...though they seem to tie this to 'event days'

Meant to clarify ..if not buying an Executive Room but are a Platinum member. Reference to this link: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....r-platinum-benefits-48453-45.html#post1210001
