Any AFFer holding elite status with Accor had experience in receiving / not receiving tier benefits when booking Accor hotels through 3rd party as opposed to booking direct? Would love to have hotels listed here where positive experiences received.

I am Accor Plat / Accor Plus and have 3rd party booking through Citibank 'Stay 4 / Pay 3' promo at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London June 14 to 18 - am hoping might still get Exec Lounge access.

The only experience I had was in Adelaide where I called up beforehand and got my account number put on the booking. Somehow it worked and I got an upgrade and welcome gift. That was as gold.
interestingly I got points for the extras I paid for, but not on the third party booking amount.

Yes thats the way it works. You paid for the accommodation side of things through a 3rd party so there is no points or qualifying nights, but the extras like food, drink, parking etc which you pay directly to the hotel you will receive points for.

Thanks so much for posts good people - I will call hotel and try to get my acc. no. added - am not interested in pts / status nts etc at all rather just lounge access so will see how we go.

Good luck, let us know how you get on

Mixed experiences, mostly negative, in Europe.

I usually get my TA to book o/s hotels for me, using my cc details. Several times in the past few years I've been told on check-in that I wouldn't be earning nights or points. At that point I open up my CBA phone application and show that the hotel pre-paid charge was taken out of my bank account; about half the time I then got the stay/points etc.

I recall some-one got into the Accor T&Cs and posted the relevant parts here and I THINK it vindicated the hotels who refused. (must check). Accor seem to say they can either give a TA commission or points etc to the traveller - you have to choose.

Anyway, these days Accor is the only group I don't get my TA to book for me.

Park Plaza is part of Club Carlson. Do they have an arrangement with Accor?
