Hi,

I want to check Accor hotel brand in terms of their ranking in the portfolio.

Raffles > Fairmont > Sofitel > M Gallery > Pullman > Swissotel > Movenpick > Grand Mercure > Novotel > Mercure > Ibis > Ibis Styles

is this correct?

Ibis Styles above Ibis.

For the rest, do you mean by Accor's claims, or by experience?

I consider Raffles/Fairmont/Sofitel about equal (mainly a geographic distinction). Pullman/Swissotel and Movenpick also about on par with each other. M Gallery can be pretty bad - a hotel in a historic building might look good, but they trade on that and might deliver a really bad stay (ie my experience in Italy). Below Movenpick I'd say.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sometimes the main difference can be things like the location, breakfast buffets, lounge (or lack thereof)

Your own personal requirements play a part.

Sofitel Melbourne has the best lounge, disabled access facilities, and location is perfect for seeing theatre shows - however there's no public pool or rooms with spa's/jacuzzi even in their pricier suites.

Pullman on the Park is solid but not amazing, and the lounge is pretty basic if you're a lounge enthusiast.
However if your main purpose of stay is an event at the MCG or Albert Park then being across from Joilmont station means you may value this much more if you're after convenience more than anything else

Accor’s claim on ranking/grouping is on their website (scroll to the bottom), including the plethora of other brands not mentioned in the OP:

Use that as a loose guide. As others have said, there can be big variations across hotels of the same brand / category.

I think it varies a lot by property.

For example the Novotel on Collins is tired and dark compared with Novotel Melbourne Central, yet same brand and only a few blocks apart location wise.

Some of the premium brands only offer a shower tub combo, which immediately puts them in the economy bucket for me.

I have stays this year at 2 * Softels, 1 * Fairmont and 1 * Novotel - picked based on location, bathroom (must not have a shower tub combo) and price (and inclusions).
