Accessing gold status perks whilst flying on non-star alliance flight

I would assume that even if you have gold status, if you're flying on a non-star alliance airline, you won't be able to access the perks such as lounge access, priority check-in (with economy ticket), priority security line (where available), etc.?

Perhaps there are times when you can get away with this though?

Usually not, unless the airline has an additional arrangement outside the Alliance eg QF and JQ, EK.

I put all my eggs in the QFF basket since COVID but recently realised this was a mistake so I've started to go down the KF and VFF path for some of my points, in recent months... but this flight was booked 6 months back using QFF points.

I’m virgin and krisflyer gold . Flying to Bali with virgin on Saturday .
Can I use by krisflyer gold increased baggage allowance instead of virgin ? How do I do so ?I believe I get 32 extra kg with krisflyer but only 23 kg with virgin .

There’s a good chance if your airline starts with the letter V and it’s not a LCC you’ll get some benefits (Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic and Vistara) but not the LCCs Volotea or Vueling
