My wife and I recently had a great experience through T8 at JFK.
She is QF Silver, and I'm Gold. We had AA tickets for economy for JFK - CDG.
When we checked in at the Priority counter the lovely lady told us to go and enjoy the lounge while we waited the 90 mins for the flight to board.
I was a little surprised at this as I had not expected access, and certainly not for both of us.
Anyway, we fronted up to the main lounge, and the lounge guard to us to both go in and enjoy ourselves.
Plenty of good food and wine/bubbles - way better than my last visit to Tom Bradley, or the One World lounge at LAX.
All in all, great service.
It's a shame the AA coach "experience" doesn't come up to the same standard.

Oneworld Sapphire (which you are as QF gold) gets access to J lounges for you and a guest when travelling with a Oneworld airline (which AA is).

... Also, at LAX, Sapphire (QF SG) get access to the AA flagship lounge (same philosophy as the at JFK) at T4 when flying oneworld.

If I were SG out of LAX, it wouldn't be likely that I'd darken the doors of the oneworld Business lounge (Operated by Qantas) at TBIT.
