Hi, apologies if this has been asked before, however I am booked directly with EK on an EK flight number and currently hold WP QF status. Can I access the EK lounge in AKL? I understand that as I have not booked a QF flight number, that I can no longer access to QF lounge in AKL.

Hi - Always difficult to find this one on EK/QF sites, but I believe you will be ok with lounge access to either the QF J/F lounge, or EK lounge in AKL. There is supposed to be reciprocal status recognition and benefits for QF & EK Frequent Flyers. It is only the Qantas Club members who ended up at a disadvantage so far as benefits go, when travelling on the EK flight number. QC members must book the QF marketed flight to get the benefits. I'm sure you are already aware you will earn no SCs though...

This article on ausbt was as close as I could find to 'official' on the subject: Qantas tightens lounge access rules for Emirates passengers - Australian Business Traveller

Cheers,
Matt.

Disclosure: I have only ever flown on the QF-marketed flights on EK metal to/from NZ........

You'll be able to access either the QF or EK lounges (although the EK lounge in AKL is far better so there's no reason you'd want to go to the QF lounge anyway).

Yep, aware no SC's - but hoping as WP in the EK booking system, they might give me a nice upgrade from Y to J as they have done once before :)

I'm flying EK metal QF code share on the 23rd November. My nephew appears to be flying same flight. But tickets EK. As WP am I able to guest him in to EK lounge? He has no status of his own.

Under the "treat their customers the same as we treat ours" principle that was promoted when the partnership was announced, I would guess you should be able to guest him in just like you would into a QF lounge. But I can't find this in writing anywhere.

I'm working on the same flight principle here. Even though we are "technically" only on the same plane. He at least is ticketed EK. , I shall see what transpires.

I'm in the EK lounge. No upgrade :-(
But the lounge is nice enough.
