My wife and I are about to book flights to the US for August 2017. We will be booking on Delta but will be on Virgin metal (economy class) all the way. We are supposedly entitled to use Delta Sky Club lounges as AMEX Platinum cardholders, but I have heard that lounge access may be restricted to those on flights actually operated by Delta.

This comment on the Delta website could be read as confirming that: "Complimentary access is specifically for the airport club that corresponds to the airline operating the flight (access pertains to the aircraft, not the flight number)."

Does anyone know whether this means that we would be unable to access the lounge, despite having boarding passes for a DL flight? Not that big of a deal - there are several Priority Pass options available if not...
