That was it for my time in Oxford; bid farewell to the young bloke, grabbed the bag from the hotel, then to Oxford Bus Station for the ride back to Heathrow

Pod takes you to Carpark 2, which is also the location of the Thistle Hotel.

No doubt the ugliest hotel I've ever stayed in

It's well known in these parts of being an ugly and not so great hotel comfort wise but it does have a wonderful balcony with great views of runway 27R /09L while.having a beer! Pods are useful also. So plus and minus....lovely and interesting photos around Oxford Uni etc. Brings back many memories to me.

Back upstairs and to the outtdoor balcony. I was the only moron out there as it was windy as hell and freezing cold. Then it started raining.
Not a lot to see on the runway either as planes were landing on the closest runway, however the hotel is located at the end; while takeoff's were taking place on the south runway.
Best I could get was the BA activity around Terminal 5

Early start, paid my 8 pounds for the pod at the hotel reception where they give you the code to the locked gate lading to the carpark.
Issue with the pod, once you get to the airport car park, there is a wait until another pod leaves the docking station. I was in it not moving for about 10 minutes in the car park, with another half a dozen backed up behind mine. There is an emergency/communication button and I was getting close to utlising it before it eventually moved on and docked.
Checked in and into Terminal 5

Eventually the boarding gate appeared and had to make my way to the satellite terminal 5B

Quite unusual for EDI or GLA departures to be from the satellite gates at LHR but not unheard of. If you have one world status always best to check in advance at the lounge (North or South) at T5 for gate info if it is not displayed. They are usually good and quick in working it out for you. The lounge at 5b is actually far superior to main T5 and quieter. Enjoy Edinburgh.
