We have a 2 night stopover in Abu Dhabi in Jan. Would appreciate some advice as to what part of Abu Dhabi we should stay in - Corniche/CBD etc? We will be out and about each day so don't need a resort and, from what I've researched, we will be taxi-ing anywhere we want to go. Any suggestions?

I have a slightly similar query - arriving late evening with a departure 22 hours later.

Need something not to exy, easily accessible, clean and comfortable.

Not to concerned about Amy particular chain/brand.

We arrive 8pm and leave two days later at 10am and will probably spend our free day doing a city tour - not what we'd normally do - but discovering on foot doesn't really seem too convenient - hence my post.

We are Accor members and in my search both the Novotel Abu Dhabi Gate and Ibis Abu Dhabi Gate (located next to each other) have rates starting from $59 and $57 respectively. If you stay at the Ibis, you have full use of the pool/gym/leisure facilities of the Novotel next door - good reviews for both.

The Rotana Centro Capital Centre also had rates around the $59 mark - good reviews also.

I'm hoping that Accor will have a 50% off sale between now and Dec and maybe the Sofitel will come in at around $80 but at present I am leaning towards the Ibis or Novotel as we are splurging $350 to stay at Bab Al Shams in Dubai en route to Europe.

Not sure what the Etihad Chauffeur will make of the pickup from the Ibis!

I recently stayed at the Intercontinental and had no issues with it. It is a short walk from the Emirates Palace, has a private beach, nice pool area and if you get a club room, the views from the lounge are great.

Stayed at the Intercon as well. Nice hotel, as Ambassador member received a very nice upgrade. Taxis are cheap, not sure I would be planning on walking around much depending on time of year, UAE was extremely hot on our visit in August (43 degrees) and the locals said 'wait until we get the warm weather?". Views were fantastic from the Intercon lounge.
The city tour won't take up much of your time.
Ferrari world was a blast, yes the fastest roller coaster in the world and outdoors, it felt like you were in a fan forced oven. My wife has been on this rollercoaster and I can guarantee she has not seen it, eyes shut from the launch til the end, I was beaten around the face and upper body when we pulled up "I am not going on that beast ever again, you idiot".
An absolute must see is the Mosque, the scale, quality and architecture will blow you away. Our guide gave me a mujch greater understanding of their religion and why things are not as they appear to an outsider.
