The more routes that go to Jetstar the closer the demise of Qantas. And then we will not be having these debates as there will be a separate Jetstar forum on AFF for the bogans.

First time I've been called a Bogan.........

First time I've been called a Bogan.........

Feels good doesn't it. I'm always called a bogan. At least I'm proud of who I am

Re: 27th February Big Qantas announcement

Better burn those million + points quick smart!

Don't worry - if need be I'll save a spot for you in the Bogan section
Do you think I have been avoided going to Fiji, Bali for fun? Plus I only ever spent 3 nights in coughet which was more than enough.

You can call them what you like. I will continue to call them bogans and do not want to encounter them anywhere. More so outside of Australia.

Pull your wallet out and fly a better airline!
Funny you say that. SQ is offering flights ex-SIN to SYD for ~SGD680 and it isn't on an A330.

Really, you label people by the airline they fly and their destination

Why stop there - what about the car they drive? where they live? what they wear? where they went to school? what job they have? ..... very slippery slope you are on!

Too true, imaroo. I judge a bogan by the company they keep.

No. I label people by the way they behave. Behave like a moron and more than likely you are bogan who should not be travelling past your backyard.

They give Australia a bad name. I prefer to travel to places where people have manners and behave properly. I don't need to see these people carrying on like they do in Mount Druitt pub on a Friday night.

I am sorry if that offends you but you don't sound like this type of person.

 I'm confused - are you saying that people that fly J* are giving Australia a bad name? or, it is just the ones that come from Mt Druitt?

We don't need to travel anywhere for that - it's already happening right here in this thread. :)

Re: 27th February Big Qantas announcement

Gentlemen

Can we please stop with the personal attacks and get back on topic I have and Im sure others have no interest in this squabble PLEASE take it elsewhere.

Thank you :D

Ansett,

If JohnK wants to call Jetstar passengers bogans then I think (as both a regular JQ AND QF customer, amongst many other airlines I choose to fly) - that we have a right of reply. It then got even more ridiculous when he followed it up with some sort of ridiculous implication that JQ flies to places where Australians behave badly. Yet they fly to Thailand - his preferred holiday destination. It makes no sense whatsoever.

+ 1 bogan (however, luckily not from Mt Druitt ;) )

Re: 27th February Big Qantas announcement

I agree with John regarding Australia getting a bad name overseas. I was coughet not long ago, while I didn't visit any bars as such, I did walk down the main stretch in Patong Beach, and it seemed most of the bars were full of Aussies getting wasted. It explains why in my travels throughout the entire island, and neighbouring islands (being there for a few days) I didn't bump into a SINGLE Australian. I guess it begs the question, why do some Aussies feel the need to travel thousands of miles, just to drink, cause trouble, and nurse a sore head, when they could, and are doing that back home (I guess its the Australian way right?). Each to their own.

Anyway back on topic... point is "bogans" are not limited to, or the sole demographic for Jetstar. On travelling from Singapore to Melbourne on Singapore Air, there was this "bogan" Aussie, tattooed wearing a singlet, shorts, thongs, about 4 bags of duty free vodka, and behaving as such where my dead dropped in shame (as an Aussie). Point is a certain type ("bogan" in this case) is not confined to a single airline.

Jetstar is increasingly pulling more corporate clients (as Virgin has), as posted earlier Bill flew Jetstar to Darwin a few days ago, showing the airline is being utilised by politicians. There is a place for Jetstar in the market.

OT but Aussies are the American tourist of yesteryear - everywhere and loud.

It's not tourists getting 'wasted' in bars in Thailand that is the most disgusting... in fact that doesn't bother me as much as the old fat male tourists (not limited to any nationality - it covers a broad range) that go there to aquire 'services' and 'friendships' they can't get in their own countries.

I agree.Have had 1 visit to coughet when we went with another couple. As the 2 males were grey haired the offers we got were disgusting.Especially as I was holding hands with mrsdrron.
Though the drunken aussies also are people to avoid.

Indeed. Thailand is a beautiful place however, it's also a magnet for the worse of humanity. Unfortunately, these types travel to these places (on all types of airlines) to commit the most abhorrent of crimes.

There are far worse things than being pi$$ed in a bar...

Re: 27th February Big Qantas announcement

While expats in Thailand are are getting a bad rap and I quite understand the sentiment, may I state for the record that I am 'none of the above'.

To qualify as a Bogan your TV has to bigger than your bookcase.
