Hi all.
I was on a jq flight to Ballina and we had to fly around again with the captain teĺling us there was unexpected light aircraft activity in the area.
Anyone have an idea how I would find out what happened?
Would this have been reported to casa or another body?
TIA.

I'd imagine what happened is, as the captain advised, there was a light aircraft in the area and the crew were unable to assure separation and therefore flew another circuit.

BNK is an uncontrolled airport. The pilots communicate on a common frequency to see and avoid each other. This can often be challenging and it's always best to play it safe and go around if unsure.

A go-around from low level would be internally reported, with no action as its a normal event. I'm not sure what you mean by "fly around again". If it was just an additional circuit, then it's nothing more than the standard approach to an uncontrolled airport.

The ATSB investigates incidents/accidents, not CASA. This sounds like a routine approach into Ballina with nothing to report.
